I am a student photography intern at Mizzou Athletics. At Mizzou, I assist the staff photographers in taking high quality images of sporting events for social and marketing campaigns. My other responsibilities include editing photos from asset shoots, live transmitting photos during games, live editing photos as on-stie photographers live transmit them, key-wording and organizing photos in our archives, and traveling with teams to away games and events.
My Story
On days when school was out when I was in middle school, especially during the summer, I found myself having nothing to do. My parents worked a lot at this point in my life so, it was just my two dogs, my older sister, and myself at the house during the afternoons. One day over the summer, I remember finding my mother's Canon DSLR and I played with it all day, taking pictures of my two dogs. This is when my burning passion for photography ignited.
Once I began high school, I created highlight videos for my school's basketball team. After basketball season I decided video was not for me and I quit creating highlight reels. However, I wanted to stay involved with the team by creating content so I began focusing on photos. I quickly discovered I was much better at telling stories on this format.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, sports were shut down much like the rest of the world. As I looked for new things to photograph, I turned to nature. I enjoy being able to capture the natural beauty of wildlife and landscapes around the United States. I believe there is no other form of photography quite like it.
Post pandemic, I returned to sports photography and as it was time to think about colleges, I knew regardless of where I went, I wanted to take pictures for their athletic teams. I also desired to be close to home so, I chose to attend the University of Missouri.
